We live in a visual world. Appearances matter. When you're the face of your business, Personal Branding Photography is not only important, it is mission critical!
The Importance of Personal Branding Photography
Let me give you an example. In this scenario, you’re a small business. You and your business have been struggling for a while and you’re finding it hard to keep your head above water. So, you decide to look online for someone that can help — a business consultant or coach in your area. You click on the first result you see, and everything sounds great! The consultant sounds like they know what they’re talking about.
But, then you get to the About Me page… only to see that their profile picture is just a poorly lit selfie while driving. Or maybe it’s a cropped-out photo of themselves from some weekend party. Or, and this one takes the cake, they took the selfie in their bathroom mirror, with the FLASH ON! What do you do? Do you say to yourself, “Oh, this looks great! Sign me up!”
Of course you don’t. Subconsciously, we tend to see ourselves in others.
Professional Photography that Supports your Brand
Say you’re the business consultant or life coach in the above scenario. Sure, you have a business-oriented mind and you have the skillset required to turn a failing small business around. But, what you may not realize is that the imagery of your brand is everything! You do not have a tangible or physical product to sell, so your aim is to attract clients and set an expectation before they meet you in person. One of the easiest and most straightforward ways to do this is to use professional images that show your face and set the tone for your ideal client.
Brand colors are also very important and need to be chosen carefully while understanding how they relate to the subconscious. For instance, a financial organization that uses Red in their brand colors can give off an almost negative energy, spawning feelings of distrust. Whereas, using Navy Blue can INSPIRE trust and confidence as well as a sense of intelligence within the company.
If you have business partners, you and your partners need to be put front and center in your brand photos. You also need to incorporate images that show you working with clients so that your potential clients are able to insert themselves into your brand photos. Help your potential clients see themselves with your service as if they are already working with you. Make them want to work with you!
Personal Branding Sessions in Houston, TX
My clients in these photos are Amy and Jared Polak out of Houston, TX. This husband and wife business coach duo, with their company Entre Results, are passionate about helping small businesses thrive! Their mission? Giving improvement-oriented small business leaders the opportunity to create exceptional organizations while living extraordinary lives. Jared Polak is also a philanthropist as well as the author of multiple books including EntreBusiness: 7 Leadership Principles for Entrepreneurial Success. In short, these two know what they’re talking about. So, it was my job to help them get their sense of professionalism across through the visual medium of Branding Photography.
One of my many passions is to help businesses put their best face forward. In brand Photography, there’s no place for stock photos that do not in any way represent the company. Business owners need to look like they Walk The Talk! They need to stand out from the crowd and help their clients feel like they 'know them’ before they meet them.
If you’re the owner of a business that might be struggling to hook clients from your web presence, take a quick look at the images on your website. Maybe you can identify that there are some areas for improvement. That’s where I come in. My aim is to provide visual proof that your business is ALWAYS putting its best foot forward! If you’re interested in putting a Brand Image together, or if you’re looking for an upgrade to your already-existing brand photos, I’m interested in talking to you!
